One person died and another was injured when a boom truck crane fell over Monday afternoon in downtown Dallas.

The man who died was later identified as 49-year-old Isidro Morales of Arlington, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner.

Officials have not provided details about what toppled the crane about 3 p.m. near a T-Mobile cell phone tower in the 1700 block of Arts Plaza, near Ross Avenue in the Arts District.

Dallas Fire-Rescue cleared the area about 4:30 p.m., and scene was turned over to T-Mobile, which was working to have someone remove the crane so the Dallas County medical examiner could retrieve the victim’s body, department spokesman Jason Evans said.

One of the men on the ground suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening and was transported to an area hospital. The crane operator was uninjured, Evans said.

It’s unclear what kind of work was being done at the time of the accident.
